You’ve likely heard it before—drink more water! But why is hydration so important, especially when it comes to holistic treatments? At om Holistic, I encourage my clients to stay hydrated because water plays a crucial role in the body’s ability to heal, detoxify, and function optimally. but if you really want me to spill the tea, read to the end.

Hydration and Pain Relief
When your body is dehydrated, muscles are more prone to cramping, stiffness, and soreness. Water helps keep your muscles supple and supports the flow of oxygen and nutrients to areas of inflammation, promoting faster healing. After treatments like massage or reflexology, water helps flush out toxins released during the session, preventing soreness and aiding recovery.
Water and Skin Health
If you’ve had a holistic facial, you may notice that your skin feels more supple and radiant afterward. Drinking water enhances these effects by hydrating the skin from the inside out. Water helps maintain your skin’s elasticity and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, making it an essential part of your skincare routine.
Aromatherapy and Hydration
Essential oils like lemon and grapefruit, often used in our Holistic Massage sessions, can help stimulate the body’s detoxification process. Drinking plenty of water after an aromatherapy treatment ensures that these toxins are flushed out, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the treatment.
Stay Hydrated, Stay Healthy
I believe that something as simple as staying hydrated can make a world of difference in your body’s healing process. Drinking water not only supports the results of your treatments but also helps maintain balance within the body, mind, and soul.
The Water Dilemma: A Hypocrite’s Confession
I know the benefits of staying hydrated. i have typed them out above. I talk about them, I encourage them after treatments—but here’s the truth: I hardly drink any plain water myself. Unless, of course, it’s disguised as cordial.
And yet, I notice the signs when I’m dehydrated. First, the dizziness creeps in, then the nausea, followed by that overwhelming heat that feeds straight into my anxiety. My body is practically begging for water, and what do I do? Snack instead. Every time. Water intake is just not on my mind.
I’ve tried to trick myself into drinking more—fancy cups, straws, alternating herbal tea with water—but still, I fall back into old habits. Maybe it’s inherited. My mum doesn’t drink water either; she powers through life with about 35 cups of tea a day.
So, as I write this, I admit I’m a hypocrite. I am human. I try to practice what i preach and live true to my values, but water often gets the better of me. So simple yet so hard for me to do. So as the weather gets nicer, im inclined to give it again more focus. If you’re someone who struggles with water intake too, let’s make a deal—I’ll try if you try. Hydration is healing, and we both know we feel better when we actually do it. Let’s take a sip (or a cordial-filled gulp) together.
Sending Love and Light
